Working from Home - Who to Trust?

Options
I'm looking for some part time work to do from home. I have a background in legal and medical administration/secretarial work and have been looking at typing/data entry from home. I've come across a company called Take Note Ltd and am wondering if anyone works/has worked for them, and what they are like to work for or has heard anything about them good or bad. I read the frequently asked questions and this is some of the info;

"We won't offer you any more than two hours of audio in a day. This will take approximately six-eight hours and typing can be very tiring."

"We ask that you sign up for at least two shifts per week (excluding time where you may need to take holidays). This is so we have enough transcribers on board to fulfill the amount of work we have in play and so we can manage our transcriber to work ratio effectively."

"For full transcription the rates of pay start at 46 pence per minute of audio (not per minute of your own time). This will increase depending on the number of speakers in the audio. You will start with full transcription and then train in summary files and notes later on, which are paid at different rates. It should take you no longer than three to four times the length of the audio to type a full transcription, although it will inevitably take longer than this as you find your feet. This is why your typing speed is so important. Please think carefully about whether you are suitable before progressing."

I meet all of their criteria including being self-employed as I mystery shop (only signed up with the companies recommend on here:) ), so I can take the typing test and complete the application but bad press of various companies makes me a little wary.

Can anyone recommend any reliable companies to work for from home?

Many thanks. Any advice/help appreciated.

I'm fairly new to posting in the forums so hope this is the right place to post.

  • This company sound quite legit to me, as they are very careful about warning you about their expectations and they have many testimonies that seem genuine. I have a friend who works at a solicitors and they use companies like this to type their transcripts from client interviews. I don't know of any working at home companies apart from selling things like Avon or Arbonne. However you do need to really check it out first. maybe you could ask this company if you can speak to some of their existing home workers to check its right for you. Good luck

    Take note are legit. Not worked for them, but know a fair few who have, and some that still do. I've worked for Accuro in the past who you may want to look into.
