I am absolutely delighted that ASDA has seen sense and decided not to join in - now I can do my routine shop without fighting the crowds.

I agree - ASDA have made the right decision...I'm glad I have supported them as I just bought my Christmas booze from their online wineshop, (smug smile) AND I got 10% off and it was delivered within 24 hours of me ordering it!
Just need to resist sampling it:T
I hope other retailers make this Black Friday the last one.:A Goddess :A0 -
How disappointing - I was looking forward to an early morning punch up over a cheap television set on the day after the whole country failed to celebrate Thanksgiving, whatever that is.
Next thing someone will be coming along saying Christmas has some sort of meaning beyond shopping.0 -
You do realise that some retailers actually use black Friday to off load goods they want rid off. if Asda have decided not to participate they have done it for there own reason and not because its may be perceived by some to be the right thing to do.0

I was not implying that ASDA were making a moral statement - I am sure it's all done because they believe its good businessNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

ASDA is wise to avoid the negative publicity they got last year.
However, if they are doing this online as well as in store, then they are foolish.
Black Friday is big business now and growing every year.
If I were the ASD A boss I'd stick to doing online only.0 -
What's it like in-store at Asda today? All quiet? I got an email from them very early this morning about their 'great deals' today, but no mention of Black Friday!
What do you guys think of what you've seen so far? Here's our Black Friday deals page.

The concept of a Black Friday Sale is good, it's just that last year, Asda did not have the execution of the sale right. You can't say you're opening your doors at a given time and that there are very limited amazing deals, you just need to get them first, that is a recipe for public disorder.
Asda should come up with a concept where you won't get people competing to get the deals, e.g. a free ticket into a Black Friday raffle, a proper queueing system, deals spread throughout Black Friday week, or deals starting at random times throughout the week.
Black Friday is good for creating excitement, it just needs to be handled correctly.0 -
Asda have reduced the prices of fuel for 3 days.If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0
