Roast chicken

Got some good friends coming for supper tomorrow so will be doing roast chicken.
I fully intended to do it in a roasting tray but as my oven is fairly new the thought of it getting splattered etc etc then having to clean it doesn't appeal. I thought I'd try and do it in a dutch oven (Le Creuset casserole).
Have seen a couple of recipes online but has anyone done this and would you recommend it?
Thanks

Thanks for that but I already have the chickens.0 -
I put it in a roasting pan upside down to keep breast moist.. cover with foil and stick a chopped leak and a whole onion up its bum... when almost cooked.. I flip it over, remove foil and dry out the skin (Cats prefer is less sticky)
onion and leeks I use for gravy.
bird is sliced, placed in roasting pan and covered with gravy and sat in the hot but turned off oven while I dish up veg..
Makes it nice and juicy!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Big tip here - line the floor of the oven with foil. That will 'catch' anything and everything and then when it comes to cleaning time you can just bin it and replace it with fresh foil. Does an amazing job of keeping the oven floor immaculate!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

foil is highly flammable.. the fire service would advise against it!

I not sure if you'd call it a dutch oven but we use a Roasting Pan with lid.
Chicken always comes out beautifully moist.0 -
