Hi guys,
ive just been approached by a friend who has found out that she has a CCJ going back to July 2011 for arrears with landlord.
She states that she has just been made aware of this after applying to credit expert.
I had a quick look on the net and read that there are three options to get shot of this,
1. pay within the month
2. wait the six years - might be her best option
3. Set Aside -
When reading into the set aside, it might appear that this is actually her best option, if she had never been aware of this.
Has anyone used this method and had success?
Oh, and sorry for dumping this in the Bankruptcy Thread. Couldn't find a more suitable one. Moderator, please feel free :-)
Cheers

Hi Paveway
For your friend to be able to get this CCJ set aside, she may need to show the court that she has reasonable grounds for disputing the debt in question. Was she aware of outstanding rent when she moved out of that property? If so, did she provide the landlord with a forwarding address at the time for correspondence purposes? These are a couple of the initial questions that need to be answered. It normally costs £155 to seek a set aside, so it's important to ensure her money is not wasted on a futile application.
Our fact sheet may make useful reading for her:
