Ok so theres a few threads about this one and I don't want to hijack someone elses thread so hence my own.
More of a rant really! so be prepared.
Its been a while since ive had a DLA award, and ive had the invitation to claim PIP, I took me a few weeks to fill in the form and send it back, then I had a phone call out of the blue asking me to attend a face to face.
Now I don't tend to answer the phone because of sensory issues, (INFO: it goes through me like nails down a chalk board due to the speakerphone being all "treble" and no "bass" triggering a negative reaction out of me SILENCE mainly or say anything to make it a short call depending on how I am at that particular time) but I had no choice but to answer due to my wife and kids painting and being covered paint for Halloween decorations.
I remember saying my name and DOB when asked to confirm them, he then said i would have to attend their offices in Cardiff, the rest is a blur (my anxiety levels went through the roof at that point at the thought of going to a city) but I remember stating in the form that a home visit is preferred due to being socially anxious, not able to cope in enclosed social situations such as being on busses and trains, and that I drive locally only due to knowing where I am going, city driving petrifies me to the point of melt down!, my wife said she heard me say that to the gentleman on the phone well something to that effect as I really didn't make anysense, and that I really hope they could provide a home visit, and that the gentleman on the phone said he would have to have a colleague call me back.
No one called back. despite having house and mobile number!.
Fast forward to Saturday had a letter from Capita, my wife said that they had made an appointment for me to attend a face to face for Thursday coming up, and cue meltdown mode, My wife called Capita to explain, she said they had now re-arranged for a home visit for Friday, not an hour later Capita calls back to inform us that the home visit has now been cancelled and that someone will call during the week to re-arrange, and now I feel totally confused as to what is going on with this PIP assessment.
Sorry its a bit of a rant, not much in they way of making much sense either, but its got me all tense and worried that someone has messed up or that they are going to put it down as a refusal to attend.. AM I BLOWING THIS OUT OF PROPORTIONS some please put this into context that I can understand!! is this NORMAL to happen with capita?

This is the important bit.
They agreed a home visit and then had to cancel it, probably due to not having anyone available to do it. They are going to rearrange it.
They have already said that you are eligible for a home visit hence the visit that was cancelled so there is nothing to worry about.
They will call and rearrange. If you haven't heard anything after a few days then they need to be called to remind them to make a new appointment.0 -
I don't know what's normal, but I do know someone who was messed around in similar vein - home visits promised, never arranged, turned out they had no one available at the time to do them but didn't bother letting the person know.
So it's entirely possible that the home visit may take a bit of faffing around on their part to arrange. I would suggest not panicking, but getting your wife to phone again if you don't hear any more by the end of the week, as they've said someone will contact you during the week. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Thanks both, I told my wife if we don't hear by Thursday then to ring them AM Friday.0

If you don't want them to phone you can tell them not to. They have to comply with this under disability reasonable adjustments.
I've done this as I cannot contain my disgust over the phone at DWP's and their minions treatment of me and others. My obvious contempt for DWP and it's capitA and atos doesn't do me any favours so I stopped all calls. Although it's not long since I told them not to phone they haven't so far.
I'm guessing someone will cone up with reasons why you shouldn't do this but it works for me and my temper. I'm also no longer wondering if they'll phone and staying by the phone etc.
You're not overreacting. Their treatment of people is terrible.Master Apothecary Faranell replied, “I assure you, overseer, the Royal Apothecary Society dearly wishes to make up for the tragic misguidance which ended so many lives. We will cause you no trouble. We seek only to continue our research in peace".0
