Where can I buy whole kale?
We love kale but I've only seen it in supermarkets chopped up in cellophane bags. Our local market doesn't sell it. Anyone know where I can get kale as it grows?
Did grow it once but by the time the caterpillars had had their fill there was nothing left.......

Try a Farm Shop, my local has it (I have to say the majority of the time their veg is less than fresh). I bought a lovely big bunch of unchopped leaves recently, I really dislike that supermarkets sell it chopped including all the thick hard stems!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Morrison's used to but haven't for ages. I just buy cabbage or spring greens now. The purple stuff usually escapes the knife.
Stark raving lunacy to package it the way it is. (Obviously not, of course, according to their sales.) Stark raving lunacy by shoppers to buy it packed like that, then. Who does so and WHY? You must be out there doing so. Please explain yourselves.0 -
I suspect it is bought by juicers

A family member's got macular degeneration and I was reading a leaflet about it last week in the opticians. There was a section about veg and it was saying that kale was the most effective veg to eat to help prevent that disease.
Whatever the ingredients are measured in kale had 21000 per amount and I think the next most effective was spinach at 15000.
So besides absolutely loving it it might be prudent for us to have regular portions.0 -
