Thanks all, much appreciated. The more I look into it, the more I am definitely going to continue paying MKDP.

Will write to court and MKDP tomorrow.

Any thoughts on the credit report showing defaults? I know it's not that big a deal, but I can't understand why it would say I've defaulted on a court order each month when I haven't!

Your mis-reading the entry, it's the same default, just gets recorded as such, every month, for six years, after which it will drop off your file.
If you look it will tell you the original default date.

its not saying youve defaulted on the court order. its saying youve defaulted on the original credit agreement. you did and have. D is what it should show every month. ccj if it shows should be a seperate entry which doesnt show payment information. just whther its satisfied or not

Play smart, WRITE to the initial firm on the CCJ.
State you have been contacted by another firm and can they confirm in writing on headed paper they do not require you to continue paying them.

Do not go in to anything else, just leave it at that, if they say yes dont pay us, stop paying and let the next lot waste cash on amended orders, which are very hard to obtain from the courts.
I do Contracts, all day every day.
  • I see, that explains it. Thanks again everyone, most helpful.

And thanks Marktheshark - will do just that.

I would instead say you are dissatisfied that they apparently sold on the debt without informing you or properly protect your interests by ensuring their purchaser maintained the payment arrangments that had been agreed.

The reason for doing this, and in particular saying you are dissatisfied, is that this makes it a complaint that is regulated by the FCA - and that in turn puts it into the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service.

And THAT puts the onus on MKDP to sort it out for you rather than expecting you to do so for yourself.

You can initiate this by an e-mail to contactus@mkdp.co.uk
