Ceramic paint on clothes

Options
My dd has got the kind of paint used for painting pottery on her lovely Next skirt:mad: . It hasn't come off in a normal wash, hasn't even faded. I tried dabbing it with dry-cleaning fluid but no joy -any ideas anyone ?

No ideas at all folks ? Am I going to have to do a spot of creative applique to cover the mark?
  • I think ceramic paint is usually water based because you then glaze it. Chemist husband suggests neat detergent and if that doesn't work then try neat glycerol (because the fibres should then attract preferentially to the glycerol rather than the ceramic powder) and then follow by neat detergent. Good luck! Would work best on cotton or cotton/polyester.

The ceramic colours that I use are oil based and usally some turpentine shifts it. But wash it thoroughly straight away after using this.

Some colours are water based but the majority I have always used are oil based.;)

It all depends whether it is used under a glaze........water based..........or

On top of an already fired glaze and more often that not is oil based.

  • Thanks for your replies guys :) I'll have a go with turps. I'm sure the plate she painted hasn't been glazed after painting though -she went round to a neighbour's house for an hour or so and came back with a painted plate -I thought they were just playing in the garden.

Sorry for not thanking you earlier -I've been away.
