Tesco - why the delay?

I placed a Tesco click & collect order yesterday, and got an email saying it would be ready by 3pm today & "We will send you a dispatch email when your delivery is on the way."
No email today, so I clicked on "view our help section", & their website says

" Sorry, due to unexpected high demand all deliveries will take 5-7 days. Excluding Partners.
We are currently experiencing high demand. If you choose Click+Collect or Standard delivery, please allow five to seven days for your order to arrive. Express delivery is currently unavailable."


Seems very odd. Yesterday was supposedly OK for next day deliveries, but today there's a sudden 5-7days delay. Anybody know why?

A couple of things come to mind:

Tesco Clubcard Boost and customers receiving the new Clubcard vouchers mailing through the post.

Christmas shopping.
