Certificate of satisfaction

I've cleared an outstanding debt which was a ccj (Hurrah)

I've had a letter from the solicitors saying I have to apply to the court for my Certificate of Satisfaction which will cost me £15. Do I have to do this? what happens if i don't? That money could go towards paying something else off you see.
current debt as at 10/01/11- £1250

You will only have to do this if you want a copy of the certificate for your own records. There is no fee to satsify your judgment. Just send a copy of the letter that confirms the ccj has been paid to the court and they will update the system which in turn, will update your credit file (the creditors should have already informed the court but quite often they dont!)

As I know a little about this, afer you submit your letter into the Court, give them a telephone call, say, after 2 weeks, just to make sure it's done. There have been some instances that it's either not been actioned, or Registry Trust (who handle the CCJ's) don't get the information.

As above the £15.00 fee is just so you get a record for yourself, you dont pay the fee for the court to mark it as satisfied, they should do it automatically.
