Washing machine that has a quick wash that takes 15 - 30 mins?

I wonder if you can help?

My washing machine has finally ended its long career of 8 years originally costing £300 so I feel it has been very good value. Averaging one wash every two days!

So I am now on the hunt for another washing machine.

The only gripe I had with my previous machine was it took forever to wash.

So does anyone have a machine that does a 30 or 40 degree wash cycle for 15 - 30 mins. If so are you happy with it, and could you recommend the model to me please?

Many thanks

I find most have a super quick 30'c wash now.. mine is Samsung.. but my old Zanussi did and my daughter beko does too.. most places you can search with that as a refining option.

I have an AEG which I bought last year from AO.com. Cost about £369.00 and to be honest it's the best machine I have ever had. Good with water consumption and washes beautifully.

The dispenser drawer is easy to remove to clean as well.

It has numerous settings and a time save function as well. For a cotton wash it can be three hours, two hours or it can do a one hour 28 minute wash.

The boon with this machine is that it has a timer delay which throughout the summer was brilliant. I would load the jeans up the night before, put it on a 12 hour delay for them to come on at 6am and by the time 7.30am came around I was up and downstairs unloading it ready for another wash to go in and out in the back garden pegging it all out.

It has a really good quick wash function which you can alter the heat settings. If you want 30 degree it will take 20 minutes or 40 is 30 minutes and again it washes perfectly. Even dirty dog towels have come out really well on such a short wash.

ooh.. one thing though... the quicker wash cycles usually use a slower spin so laundry is not as dry.. and my need an extra spin. my quickest 1400rpm cycle is 52 minutes.. my quickwash is 15 but that only does a 1200 spin so I need another 13 minute spin.. this seems to be the norm!

My hot point 7kg machine has a 30' wash - but as pigpen says the spin is slower (why is that?). An extra spin is another 15'
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • I have a Hoover and we have had it far longer than I can remember. Never had a minute's trouble with it in all that time. It does 3 different quick washes at 40 deg - 29, 44 or 59 mins. I usually do the 44 min wash but, like Pigpen says, it does a slower final spin and I have to put it back round to a faster final spin. (Unless we are having a heatwave and it gets pegged out as is!)

We have a Bosch and the lower temps (various 30 degree and cold) all take about 30-35mins. They do spin slower though as i guess the assumption is more delicate items may be in the wash. I've just done a 30 degree of gym stuff - so mix of cotton and lycras, took the lycra items out and re-span the cottons to dry further

(btw, not being gross washing gym stuff at a low temp, as said, some is lycra so can't have a hot wash and it gets a nice dose of napisan to kill off any smellies)

Whatever one you go for also check the max load for the quick wash, most will do a quick wash but only with a 2kg load.

My Beko has a rapid wash for 20min that is a 2kg max with a 1000 spin and it also has a 7kg quick wash that takes 40 min and can go to 1400 spin on that particular wash. Alternatively I often put it on the 7kg wash with no spin for 30min and a separate 1600 spin for an extra 15min and gets things much dryer.

mine is Samsung and I have had it about 8 years so doubt if they do the same model now. Quick wash is about 35 mins and spin speed is 1200 which I find quite adequate and doesn't crease the clothes too much.

BUT if clothes aren't dirty and just need freshening up, it has a 'rinse and spin' cycle of 15 minutes! I do use this frequently! as sometimes OH changes clothes after just a few hours of wearing them.
  • My Beko does two quick washes. One takes about 20mins limited to 2kg and the other 40mins. There is also a freshen up which takes less than 20mins. Something to keep in mind is that one of them and I can never remember which one uses litres more water. I know that might not be something you're bothered about but I remember being quite surprised by the figures because the difference was so large.

I have a Miele which has got to be nearly 20 years old now and it has a whole host of short cycles

I've just taken the covers of my suite, back cushion and seat cushion in together on a short 20 min 40oC wash, will be dry by this evening (hung over the kitchen chairs to dry as it's teeming here). They came out barely damp and we are talking very heavy material

The hand wash and delicate cycles do only have a short slow spin but on those cycles that's all that wanted

Even the full on, two washes, 75oC wash isn't that long, perhaps 2 hours
