Any Sainsburys pharmacy staff about?

If so what are your plans for the Lloyds takeover?
I'm just not sure what to do for the best :(
Currently I'm a dispenser, I've been there 3years
My manager thinks its all fine and no problems, however coming from him I'm not convinced. All the meetings that have been had haven't really provided us with solid proof that we are going to stay open and even if we do, will I even like the roles/direction Lloyds will push us into?
I like working at sainsburys, we aren't a busy pharmacy and so have time to help customers properly and get to know them, rather than being rushed.
If I move to another pharmacy I'm afraid I'll be stuck in the back dispensing with no interaction with the customers, I'll be bored as hell! which is possibly what Lloyds may do anyway if they transfer work from the closest Lloyds locally to us.
It may work out great, it's the not knowing that's difficult.
I could move into a sainsburys role, and keep my discount, sharesave and other benefits but may lose pay depending where I go, plus I may have to retrain.
What plans do other current Sainsburys pharmacy staff have or if you were in my shoes what would you do?

  • I can't really offer any advice as I think it's an individual decision. Personally, I have often not to transfer and will be leaving the company (no other suitable role for a pharmacist), mainly because I worked for Lloyd's previously and it's not for me. Two of my team are 99% certain to stay with JS with the rest transferring planning to transfer over and see how it goes although if something else suitable came up I think they would seriously consider it. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to.
  • You like working for Sainsburys and you love the interaction with customers - why not transfer onto a checkout role or one within the clothing team.

Wont take you a shift or two to pick up the new skills and then you keep all the benefits, plus you will keep the part you enjoy the most, speaking with customer. Probably more scope for promotion too? (so in time money might improve??)

    Good Luck

I don't know the background to this, are the Sainsburys pharmacy staff being TUPEd to Lloyds? If so do you still have the ability to transfer back to working for Sainsburys without a break of service? If you do then I can't see any reason not to at least give it a try with Lloyds.
  • Thanks guys, I am thinking of swapping departments,I can't stay with lloyds and switch back as I'd have to start all.over again as a new employee and I'd be worse off.
I can however move to lloyds when I feel ready providing there's a position available.
I just wish something decent would pop up so I can move to a good job not just any job!
  • Hi, I'm currently working for boots but have no options to have more hours or training through them. I have just applied for a dispensing get job with sainsburys and have now come across this thread. Obviously you will know more about the plans to switch to lloyd than I do so any info on how it may affect me would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to know what's going on before I go to an interview. Thanks in advance

As I understand it, the plans are that Lloyd's will take over on 1st March 2016. There have been a series of consultations with representatives from each Sainsbury's region attending. Whoever interviews you will have a set piece to read to you at interview effectively telling you that you'll be transferred to Lloyd's if you're successful. You'd be TUPE'd over on whatever contract you're offered with Sainsbury's.
