Buying Amazon gift cards from Sainsburys

Hi Guys

Just a quick on, our local store sells all these type of gift cards and I am after buying two for different people this year, do I just go to a normal self service till and scan them and then there up and running to use or will they need to be taken somewhere else?

I tried to buy a amazon from Amazon last year and they never sent it and they refunded me as they admitted they actually never even sent it from there warehouse.

thanks

  • They need to be activated so I think you'd have to go to a till with a person.
  • As fiscalfreckles says they need to be activated. I work on the tills in Sainsburys, and usually we have to swipe the card through the card reader (on the side of the pin machine) to activate them. I'm assuming that on self scan you'd have to wait for someone to come over and authorise it for you, as otherwise people would just swipe them to activate and walk out without paying. Really though it's just so much easier to go to a proper till.
