Heinz Mayonnaise: yes, Heinz DO still produce & sell their brand of mayonnaise! :-)

I am posting this info here as I have discovered that other web users have also had MAJOR PROBLEMS finding Heinz's brand of mayonnaise in shops . . . but then I happened to see it yesterday in a store: yo! :-) So just to notify peeps that mayonnaise IS still manufactured by Heinz AND can be found in shops: great! :-)

[ BTW, I could have posted this info at Facebook or Twitter - as those are the chat-option websites where 2 people recently commented on the annoying fact that Heinz mayo seems to have been taken off the market - but, then, I refuse to join up to those 2 websites, espec. just for that purpose! Ha-ha! ,-) ]

I had just popped into Farmfoods (cheapo freezer foods shop) for an emergency loaf of bread . . . & was stunned to happen upon a squeezy bottle of "Heinz Top Down Mayonnaise"! So it is still available to buyers! :-)

This was on 3 Nov 2015 - and was only 2 weeks after I had realised that I hadn't seen this brand of mayo for AGES, so had Googled the product only to find that lots of other people had found & commented upon the lack of this brand on supermarket shelves.

This find at Farmfoods was lucky, as I wasn't looking! for mayo on that day; & in fact I had altogether stopped bothering to look for the Heinz brand of mayo anywhere, as I hadn't seen it on any supermarket shelves for over a year.

BTW, the actual shop where I found the Heinz mayo - "Heinz Top Down Mayonnaise" (420g) - was in the north east (in Gateshead, near Newcastle). But it may well be stocked in other UK stores of this freezer food supermarket. Sadly, Farmfoods don't bother putting their products on their website (www.farmfoods.co.uk), as the turnaround for their stock is very fast & ever-changing; so you can't check on in-store levels :-( But if you have a look for a store local to you (www.farmfoods.co.uk/index.php?p=storeFinder) you might be lucky & find this item!

HTH someone, if any 'Hunter of the Great Heinz Mayonnaise' finds their way to the MSE forums! ,-)

I never knew there was a shortage of Heinz mayo, I buy it all the time in my local Asda.

There's been no shortage of it in Sainsbury or Lidl in the last year from the stores I use.

I bought some last week in Sainsburys and certainly hadn't noticed any recent shortage, and there was plenty on the shelf.
  • Ive also noticed a shortage. I could only get it in B & Ms or Home Bargains but not anymore. Shame coz its definitely my favourite!

So, looks like it's a variable case re whether buyers are lucky or not, then! ,-)

As our own Sainsbury's & Tesco & Morrisons have had NO stock of this for ages. They've stocked Hellmann's, but not Heinz. Hence my Google search for this item - only to find lots of other people who'd found the same problem.

P.S. I know that some of these shoppers have a hankering for the particular flavour of Heinz. And I understand the issue of taste (as a family we prefer 'PG Tips' over nearly all other brands of tea, any day!) But, personally, I preferred Heinz for a space-related issue, not for the taste: i.e. for the fact that their old tall (? 600g) bottle fitted perfectly in the height of our cupboard shelf! ,-) So the bottle used up less space in the width of the cupboard, plus needed to be bought less frequently . . .

Ah well, off to buy a non-branded tall bottle of mayo! :)

You dare-devil, you! Throwing caution to the wind storing your condiments in a cupboard! Didn't you read the memo? Peoples nowadays drop dead from stomach cramps if they don't keep their mayonnaise in a fridge and consume within three weeks!

Hiya nada666! Yep, & we keep tomato sauce in the cupboard, too . . . & we haven't died yet!! ROFL!! ;)

IMHO it's just propaganda from the manufacturer to make you think you have to buy it more frequently! :D

After all, there's so much preservatives in shop-bought items.

However, now I think about it, I DO prefer to keep tartare sauce in the fridge. Maybe because we use it less often, so it has to be kept longer. And all our eggs, too. And any FRESH sauce, needless to say.

Of course, if I had a larder - in an older house - I'd keep it there, as my mother used to. She could store butter in the old larder, as well. Our house, however, in nice & modern; & thus also nice & hot! ,-)

Ooh, that's made me think of a nice walk-in fridge: WHAT a lovely idea!! :D
