Experian - will it alert the bailiffs?

Hi,
Going through the motions now of sorting my ebts out once and for all. I'm going to send off for my credit report but dont want to do it if its going to send an alarm to the credit agencies that I have avoided for all these years, will me requesting my report do this? Furthermore whats the scenario with a 6 year debt if they've not been in touch with you, reason they've not been in touch is due to changing address?
Cheers for your help.

Of course, any search on your CRF is open to anyone who pays to look at that information, and, I am certain many DCA's trawl the CRFs looking for potential prey.
As far as bailiffs are concerned, other than for council tax, and certain other Crown Debts, they can ONLY be used to execute a Court Judgement, so unless you have outstanding CCJ's there should be no worry there.
Any debt, with very few (usually property related) exceptions, that you have niether made a payment toward, nor contacted the creditor, in writing, to discuss the debt, for a period of 6 years will, normally, be covered by the Limitations Act, 1980, and will be statute barred. This, effectively, means that, once you have stated that you will not be paying them because they are statute barred, they can no longer be pursued.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

  • So how will this statute barred look upon my credit report then?? Im a bit confused about the state of my credit as, as far as I was aware, I couldn't get any credit anywhere as it was in tatters but low and behold three months ago I lost my wallet with driving license and cashcard and somebody had obtained two contract mobile phones out in my name?? It cant surely be that bad then, can it?? If my debt with my CC is around 5/6 years old is it best to carry on avoiding it as I have and just tell them about that I'm not paying it due to a limitations act?
    Thanks a lot!!
