Competition ends :
WIN SUPER NEW AFRICAN VIOLETS
AFRICAN violets, once Britain's most popular houseplants, are back in favour as a dazzling new range becomes available.
Originally the plants, also known as saintpaulias, were purple but now there are varieties in numerous shades of red, blue, pink and mauve.
Some are doubles, some have ruffled petals and others have a lacy white edge to the flowers. There are even trailing kinds.
You can win a selection of young plants, including all of these types, from the family firm of Dibleys Nurseries near Ruthin in North Wales, winners of numerous gold medals at Chelsea and other flower shows.
We are giving away FOUR collections of African violets - plus a copy of the book 'African Violets: The Complete Guide,' which explains how to get the best from the plants.
It an easy-to-follow 124-page volume by expert growers Joan Hill and Gwen Goodship, covering growing, propagation, showing, pest and disease control and much more.
Our prize packages comprise 12 different varieties from the 34 saintpaulias in Dibleys' catalogue, including these four: Raphsodie Clementine, new this year, with soft, blue, anemone-shaped flowers; Cherries 'n' Cream, which has a large, striking blooms of deep purplish red with white edges; Beatrice Trail, a trailing form with pale pink blossoms; and Buffalo Hunt, which has bright red ruffled petals.
They come as well-established young plants, individually grown and labelled in Jiffy plugs, ready for planting into pots.
To win one of our four prize collections, worth £34 each including the book, answer this question: How many saintpaulia varieties are listed in Dibleys' catalogue?
