    Very nice
You can record as honestly as you are doing.
  • Just got caught up with you . An extra month isn’t so bad , better than a whole year.

We have lots of relatives in the land down under and we use FaceTime , great invention. Can’t remember the last time we phoned .

    Hi Cumbria,
I should use FaceTime. I think I forgot about new technology and thought I was back in the eighties again !

  • Good morning diary and all,
DS is coming home from Uni today for the weekend and it looks like he will be bringing his GF. We will take them out this evening to the local Indian restaurant. We have both been paid and this month made a payment of £415 to the debt. This is less than I had planned, partly to do with overspending in December and January. It is also because we are buying a few bits and pieces to cheer up our kitchen. OH and I have been window shopping (fatal!) and we are getting a few items today. I was a bit overenthusiastic in trying to clear the debt by end of February! I have to budget for a bit of spend on the car as I am planning to get a small job done on it in March, plus a new tyre. Even with this, we should still hit end of March as planned. Car insurance is up for renewal. Currently I am paying £450 and it looks like I can get it down to £350.
I find I am thinking a bit less about money. I suppose that is a good sign. Its been a bit obsessive for the last two years.

Have a good weekend with DS and his GF . Good to hear you are still on target for March even with you buying a few bits for your house.

Car insurance is a good deal getting a £100 cheaper. Cars are expensive to run , but if you look after them they do last longer for sure.

  • Good morning diary and all,
    Thanks Purple Mum and Cumbria!
Up early today as I have some work to do which I need to get on with. It was nice to see DS and his GF last weekend. We went to the local Indian restaurant and had a nice chat with them, always seem to get more conversation over a meal! DS is studying music and his GF fine art. Work is ticking over ok, lots to do but manageable at the moment. Slow and steady on the money front. I noticed on YNAB today that for the first time I have a positive net worth! This means that current account plus savings (emergency fund) is more than the debt (not including the mortgage). A bit meaningless of course because we have just been paid and have to live for the rest of the month! But creeping towards the finish line.
    Have a great day all!

  • Good morning diary and all,
Switched energy suppliers today. This is now an annual thing for me. Ive switched back the last supplier I had and “saved” £150. I don’t see this as a saving any more, its just cost avoidance. It seems strange that our energy market has become like this.
Work had been a bit manic so looking forward to a quiet weekend. Some chores around the house. I need to get some piano practice in. I have a grade 2 exam in March. What was I thinking!?
    Have a great day all!

I am locked in until December with my power supplier but will be looking around in November .

    Have a good quiet weekend.

Did you hear any more about your promotion ?

  • Hi Cumbria,
Thanks, yes, I got some good news this week that I have got through the first stage of the promotion process. There is one final stage so hopefully some good news in a couple of months time. It is quite (very) bureaucratic where I work.
DS was in touch last night as he needed us to secure his accommodation for next year. He has a few friends who want to share. I’m pleased he has settled in and found his niche and friends he can identify with.
OH not very well today so I have a few domestic things to attend to around the house.
Nothing very exciting to report on the MSE front. Pay day is a week on Monday and aiming for a decent repayment this month.
    Have a great day all!

  • Good morning diary and all,
I haven’t mentioned it before, but I teach in a University. This week, starting on Thursday I have been on strike for the first time in my working life. The strike is over pension changes being imposed, not negotiated by Universities. The impact will be a reduction of approx.. £10,000 per annum. It has been a really difficult decision, I care very much about my students and I have a son at Uni and I understand that this is disrupting their education. I wont go into it too much as this isn’t the place and besides there will be many different views. Anyway, it could last 14 days and the impact will be approx. £1000 on my income in March if it does. Thus. the debt repayment date has gone back a month or two! I sincerely hope it is called off, there are talks on Tuesday next week so fingers crossed.
Talking of DS, he is home for the weekend and its really nice to see him. We spent some time together yesterday, he taught me a card game.
    Have a great day all!
