Good morning
I feel accomplished this weekend! Not only have I Tilly tidied the mortgage balance by overpaying £19.88 into it, we got £35 of Tesc@ club card vouchers from e@n after we left them, cos we had never claimed them on our account. I spotted that when we were looking at switching from them and claimed the 2 years worth.
Oh, and one more thing. I'm expecting a bit of a payback from E@n as our account was well in credit when I looked. No idea how long that'll take though.
Oh, oh and the last bit of money news is that I've cancelled my garden compass membership (£24 per year), my amazon unlimited (£7.99 a month) and iTunes subscription (£9.99 a month). Not bad eh?
Between all that and filling a bin bag with clutter from my wardrobes, it's not been a bad few days of positives!Mortgage: £46,500 @ 1.97% (5 years left, aim for 3)0 -
Well Easter's been and gone, the days are getting longer and...**drum roll** we've overpaid the mortgage to the tune of £450 this month!!!
I've used the MSE mortgage overpayment calculator to work out that by overpaying £400 a month, we can knock 3 years off the term! So could be on track to pay it all off in just under 5 years. Not bad eh? I'm on a mission now, but realise with the first grandchild on the way, plus a holiday to pay for, we might not be able do overpay that amount all the time, but I'm determined to try :j
No other news of any significance really, except that according to Z00pla, our house has gone up in value by £20,000 in the last 2 years!

I've been so busy overpaying that I've not kept this log up to date....oops. That's not true, well it kinda is, cos we've knocked loads off the mortgage, switched mortgage company when the fixed term ended and now got a really good deal. From 3.68% to 1.97%. It's fixed for 5 years by which time we'll have paid it off.
The monthly payments reduced by £70ish but we're carrying on paying the old amount. We're also overpaying by £200 a month. So the balance gets rocked by £270 overpayment every month.
The house is also worth £45k more than we paid in 2014. Not a bad investment that!
I feel for the first time in my adult life that I'm actually on track to being mortgage free. That might sound sad to some people, but I've had a good few near disasters and bad choices financially and emotionally in the past. At last I got it right lol.
Today will be spent sorting the freezers out, menu planning and doing laundry. I've been without a fully working washing machine for a month due to breakdowns and problems so the shiny new one arrives today!
