Ive had enough of my bank

Hi there everyone,
I went to a cashpoint at Sainsburys today(it was one that belonged to sainsburys bank) I asked for £200 the machine bleeped at me as though my card was coming out then after a couple of minutes it said on screen id taken too long to take my money(I didnt even see any money) then my card came out so I went to the machine next to that one and it said I had taken my limit for today. I phoned Halifax and the £200 was missing from my account they told me I needed to ring Sainsburys bank to ask them to notify Halifax so I could have th money back. I also went into the Sainsburys store to tell them about said machine and the assistant said that 7 ppl have already notified them.
When I got home I rang Sainsburys bank and they said it is my bank that needs to notify them not the other way round so back on the phone to my bank and they are now telling me it is going to take 7 days min to 28 days max to get my money back. As some of you will know from my other post I am in a dilemma wiht missing washing machine etc(which is what the £200 was for and also tumble dryer and sofas)
Can anyone help me with what to do I really need the money. I am going to Halifax in the morning to see if they can shed any more light on the subject.
Thanks

Hi Peachie
What a horrible thing to happen.
It sounds as though both Sainsbury's and Halifax are accepting there was a problem and aren't disputing that they need to refund you the money- is that right?
In which case, why not try phoning Halifax and asking if they will offer you some kind of overdraft facility FOC until they get your money back to you?Proud to be dealing with my debt!

Thanks for the reply I havent got a current account so they will not give me an overdraft (I only have a cardcash account). Sainsburys only know what has gone on because alot of ppl went into the store itself to complain but Halifax are saying they only have my word that I didnt get the money. sainsburys Bank said that all Halifax have to do is notify them but Halifax have a procedure they have to follow(forms filling in etc) but like I said it doenst help me in the menatime.0

What will happen is you will fill in a form (ATM dispute form) with a Halifax branch staff member and then the Halifax will contact Sainsbury's who will need to investigate if their atm had a fault or did not balance.
This will take Sainsbury's time (& I guess other atm disputes), so that is why 28 days is quoted to you. Sainsbury's will then respond to Halifax and then you will get your money back
ps. was it today? I have seen atm's where there were faults, re-credit the account the next morning (overnight basis). I'm not saying this is going to happen, but I have seen it0 -
Hi there regularsaver1 yes it was today and sainsburys have realised there is a fault cos when I went back to the cashpoint there was a notice on the screen saying service not available "withdrawals" so I presume sainsburys realised. Sainsburys did say(the store itself) that once they know machine is faulty it gets recredited to the ppls accounts so you never know.0

fingers crossed
if not then defo do the claim form with your bank0 -
hi there, i work for halifax, please don't hate me.
pop into your local branch, and tell them you want to do a 'link dispute', even with a cardcash, they still have to do them, money won't hit your account straight away, but will soon after the atm is balanced, normally a 2 week cycle.
i've done a load of them from the bank's side, money always ends up back where it belongs.
that's all assumingthat it hasn't re-creditted laready of courseProud to be dealing with my debt - DFW Nerd Number 655
