VOIP USB Corded Phone with 100 minutes (£2) voucher to Freshtel for £10 (ASDA)

In my local ASDA Yesterday they had a Celestia C1085 VOIP USB Corded telephone with a 100 minute voucher (£2 worth of call, it costs 2p a minute to call UK Landlines and 10p a minute to UK Mobile Phones!).
You also get your own local number (by entering your home phone number it will find one with your area code!), so it acts as a second landline but without extra costs like 2nd Line Rental
And it only cost £10!
Not sure if it's nationwide, i would imagine it is though.

Thanks,
Andy.

Hey Andy,
Freshtel is also in an aliance with Tesco's internet phone so the 2 services talk together for free...pretty good :money:
Cheers, Stonker10 -
I wonder if you can out in your own SIP settings to use voipcheap?0

Right, stoopid question time ......
Does this phone actually ring when someone calls you or do you need PC speakers to hear the ring?0 -
The Phone actually rings and a little light goes on (located at the top left hand corner).Right, stoopid question time ......

I'm a bit thick about this kind of thing so if this is a silly question, sorry, but will it work with skype?0

I saw same 'FRESHTEL' system in my Local JTF Warehouse on
their 'When Its Gone Its Gone' display
3 different handsets to choose from
Celestia C1075 (corded without stand)
1.95 + vat = £ 2.29
Also in a green 'Binatone' box, but exactly same inside
Celestia C1085 (corded with stand) (£2 voucher included) as previous post
6.95 + VAT = £ 8.17
Lyris 1040 (cordless Dect handset) (£2 voucher included)
4.95 + VAT = £ 5.82
Caution: cheapest handset was missing the 'free call voucher' without it you cannot activate the service
However well worthwhile.
My son, went to China for 12 months last Tuesday, whenever he turns his PC on, not only can any Freshtel user (or Tesco internet phone user) ring him for free but he also has a UK landline number he can be rang on, or he can ring out for 2p per min to landlines and 10p per min to mobiles
(Pay as You Go type system)
FRESHTEL seems to beat 'Skype' in this way
30min call to Beijing last Friday cost £ 0.00
This is the way telephones should be0 -
I'm waiting on my Linksys PAP2 arriving from ebuyer to get into VOIP properly - Sipgate offer 1.19p to UK fixed landlines, 9.90p to mobiles, with an 01/02, 0845 or 0870 incoming number.
Free calls to a number of SIP based networks too.
£5.99 a month gets you 1000 minutes to UK landlines if you make a lot of calls.
BTW - there are far more SIP based pieces of hardware out there than ones for the protocol that Freshtel/Tesco use so if you want to buy more advanced hardware later you might not have much choice if you want to use Freshtel.0 -
Yes, i use Sipgate but find the interface pretty poor. Although it is cheaper, i like Freshtel for it being a normal number and not 0845/0870 which sometimes puts people (like customers or friends/family, don't want to fall out with them!).Hi, I've already asked and been granted for permission via PM for a Help for Heroes link. Try Voipcheap.com (not .co.uk) and its very very cheap for what i do..
Free uk landline calls and calls to where i call (philippines) are around 6ppm cheaper then other providers..0 -

Do Sipgate no longer do local numbers? I have one with them
