How much to spend on a duvet.

Simple enough question really. I'm just unsure if there's any actual quality difference between a Tesco duvet at £11 for a double, a Slumberdown at £13 or a Silentnight one at £18 - all for 4.5 tog at Tesco, just a quick comparison, all have cloth covers and are machine washable.
If there's any actual difference I don't mind spending extra, if it's about the name I thought people here would be able to save me money

I have had a lot of cheap duvets over the years and recently I finally decided to buy a decent one considering how much time we actually spend sleeping, I got this one and its lovely ! It keeps it shape and isn't thin with no texture.
I personally wouldn't have 4.5tog though as thats a very lightweight summer one, so you would also need a Autumn Winter one aswell I would think?
Its like sleeping in a hotel room overnight.

I gone for microfibre filled duvet than cheap hollowfibre filled
i cost me about £20 - 30 for 13.5t and i had it for 5 year now.
However, i would recommend you get all season 4.5t + 9t as my 13.5t is too big for my washing machine to wash.0 -
Thanks. I can't spend £50 on one, I would if I could but it just isn't feasible.
I'm thinking a 7.5 or 10.5, I definitely won't need heavier than that as I'm not a cold person. I keep my bedroom cold as soon as the weather goes cold so what I need now should only need the blanket I keep around even in the coldest weather. Can't beat snuggling up in a cool room!
I'll look for a microfiber one. I've noticed the bounce back and similar names say 100% fibre rather than 100% hollowfiber filling, I'll check but I think that's more the loose style.
Thank you0 -
One thing that I look for when purchasing a down duvet is whether the duvet has cassette box construction. If you don't like the 'duvet stuffing moving to the bottom of the bed' and you want to avoid the hassle of shaking the duvet to redistribute the down in your duvet..........buy a duvet with cassette boxes.
I've bought from this company and their website explains the cassette box construction better than I can:

The cost of a king size is more than the value of my entire life's possessions and belongings!! I could replace everything in my house, everything I own, brand new, for that much....and still have change.
Blimey ..... and I bet whoever buys those are business owners who complain that increasing their staff wages in line with NMW will make them go broke.0 -

I used to buy mid price ones, but as cleaning is expensive, decided to buy cheaper, then cut in half and recycle as dog duvets, buying replacements for us.
A couple of times I have bought the 'paper' covered ones for child use, but now buy from Aldi or Lidl, when they reduce after the weekly offer, then store until needed. They often have Silentnight or John Cotton brand.0
