    Thanks FF and MrsM...

You reminded me of one more thing I'm doing MrsM.....;)

Doing loads more home cooking....cheap easy recipes. In fact, at the moment I am working through my storecupboard and freezer (as I have a tendency to hoard)...and am only buying what I absolutly need!

I bargain isn't a bargain if I get it home, and end up throwing it out a few days later!

Hi curlywurlygirly (gotta say I love the name too!)

I'm glad to hear that you're doing lots of home cooking to reduce your costs. My first tip would be: if you can, buy in bulk. This includes perishables if you can stick them in the freezer. I tend to go to my butcher once a month / six weeks, buy carrier bags full of munce, beef, chicken, etc, as you can haggle for a better price when you buy in bulk. (Unfortunately this then leaves you spending ages splitting everything up into portions to stick in the freezer.) Then you just take oout what your going to use about a day beforehand, to give it time to defrost in the fridge. (If you remember!)

My second tip would be, if you are using a lot of meat in your cooking, try using a bit less and stick some veggies in there (eg, onions and peppers in spag bol or chilli). Not only is it cheap, but it adds to the flavour and is healthy too!

We have sky sports and movies....reason being that if we get these, then we get the sky+ free....if we don't, we have to pay for the privilage of having sky+....it makes more sense to get something for the extra rather than nothing,

Still telling porkies... Sky+ is free now to all subscribers, they dropped the monthly subscription costs for Sky+ months ago.

Sky Sports+Sky movies is not "pared down to the bare essentials." It's a luxury package that you simply can't afford.

No wonder you are so much in debt.
