Newly Bankrupt Questions...

Hi everyone,
I've been lurking here for a while :-).
I declared myself bankrupt a couple of weeks ago and have sent off a lot of paperwork to my official receiver and am waiting to hear from them.
My questions are:
1) I am single with 2 children and currently receive JSA (income based), housing benefit, and child tax credit/ child benefit. I also receive a child maintenance payment from the childrens' father each month. I know that the OR doesn't usually request an IPA if state benefits are your only income, but could the child maintenance payment be considered fair game?
2) I am hoping to come off JSA in the next few weeks and go self empoyed (I am a personal trainer and don't need credit to do this). Do I need permission from the OR to do so?
Many thanks in advance if anyone can help! This is such a great site.

    IT SHOULDN'T BE.

Nope you can do what ever work you want. What advice have you had with going self employed?

  • Hi Tigerfeet, Thanks for the reply. I haven't had any specific advice yet regarding the self-employment with regard to my bankruptcy.
