Alison's Debt Free/Slim Wannabe Diary!!

I know others might not really read this but it'll help me deal with it all...
This week I started my SlimFast diet. I've gained too much weight after my second child (thinking it was ok b/c "I'd just had a baby") well, this week I realized that he's 3 months now and I need to do something about my weight. I've ALWAYS been overweight, ever since High School and always said, every February I'd diet so I looked good the following Summer but it never happened and, after each of my children were born Ive only got bigger, now a size 16/18. But Im only 23 so if only for a bit, I want to loose weight so for once I'll be able to wear clothes that I actually like and will fit me properly instead of what seems like ugly clothes that never fit right.
Luckily for my OH, I've never asked do these jeans make my bum look big. i know they don't - MY FAT MAKES MY BUM LOOK BIG!
I've decided that I'll give myself £10 for every 1 lb of weight that I loose. Im 14 stone now (cant believe it myself) and want to get to 10 stone which I think is a normal, healthy weight, I'll never be skinny and I dont want to be.
With the money I make I'll be paying off my debt too which can only be a good thing! I've also decided to give myslf £5.00 pocket money which will also go to paying off bills.
My OH has a bad smoking habbit, spending at least £10 p/w on cigarettes so, I'll be getting £10 p/w too, hopefully it'll soon pay off - cant wait to see those numbers getting smaller!!!
I plan on making a lil post here every 2 or 3 days but if Im doing well I might not need to post as much or on bad days I might end up psting a lot more!

Hi there alison999....
From a fellow "well upholstered lady":p ....i started watching my weight last week and have decided to add my losses to my signature....
I tell you what i am finding helpfull at the moment..think about how much money you are eating as well as the callories etc;) .....im not listing how much i have to lose.....not yet anyway cos its all a bit
I will try and keep an eye out for your threads.... we all need some moral support dont we :rotfl: :rotfl:-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi, Alison, I can sympathise with you over the weight, I am a hearty eater myself. Or at least I used to have a good appetite before my LBM. I've hardly been able to eat since, but it is having a double beneficial benefit. I'm losing weight and saving money LOL. I like your motivation techniques, tho', my hubby smokes, but I never thought about asking him to give me the equivalent.
Good luck with your endeavours!!!!! tvt.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
Thanks guys, Im really struggling but I think its because Im at home all day with the baby, cant wait till we move and I'll be busier!! The slimfast shakes are brillian though they taste SOOOOOOOOOOOO nice!! the chocolate ones anyway! And the caramel bars too. But I feel like Im never full so it'll always be a uphill struggle I think. I just hope I dont loose it all only to pile it all back on again!
MRSMCAWBER vbmenu_register("postmenu_6097574", true); you might be better not setting yourself a goal of weight to loose, I think putting too much pressure on yourself isnt good. 4 stone IS daughnting but its the only way for me to face up to how much I actually need to loose. I feel like Ive been in denial for a long time.
trying-very-trying vbmenu_register("postmenu_6097745", true); i think its only fair that if my oh gets £10 for cigarettes (or whatever he wants) then i should get £10 a week for whatever i want too. im using my £10 p/w to pay off my debts BUT i also hope it shows him how much money hes wasting on cigarettes too and that it'll make him stop smoking!0 -
Good luck! I recently had a similar realisation - keep saying 'I've just had a baby so its ok' sounds worse when he's almost ten.......years old

Ha ha, well baby #1 is nearly 4! But I never bothered b/c I always knew that Id have anothe. I dont mean this as a attack on anyone but I just dont wanna get so big that I embarrass my kids when I get them from school and stuff or, too big to play in the garden with them.0

On a personal note....my job that brought me to england was an ice skater in hot ice in Blackpool....i was skinny as a stick (probably a size 4 in english sizes)...i'm now a size 12 and have never felt better about myself. I HAVE CURVES!!!!! admittedly baby fat too from having my son but I love it. Don't feel pressured to lose weight if you don't want to...only do it if your unhappy.0

Thats the only reason I am doing it. With all the effort it takes to loose weight I dont think its possible to do it for anyone but yourself.
OH is annoying me now. Yesterday he bought a chocolate cake thing, which he had to leave in the fridge... OK that annoyedme but I put all my salad in front of it... This morning I got up and he'd just left it at the computer desk! Plus he keeps buying me Mars bars, Ive asked him to stop and says he will but doesnt, but when he's someone thats always been slim, I dont think he understands how hard it is for me. Arrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!0 -
Hi, well done on setting yourself a goal.
There are several weight loss threads on here where everyone offers encouragement.
With regard to the mars bars - can you ask him to get you some boiled sweets or jelly sweets instead? At least that would be much less fat - and he can still buy you a treat if he wants to
Or do you have a favourite fruit you could ask him to get you instead?

I sort of know how you feel. My OH works away all week and usually brings me home a "treat" on Fridays, a bar of chocolate (always a big bar though) or bag of sweets etc. Sometimes when I am trying to lose weight I complain and he looks at me like I'm mad and says "But, you're not fat!" I'm currently pregnant at the moment and right off chocolate and OH brought me a bag of nectarines as he knows I'm currently into fruit! Maybe you just need to prod your OH into bringing you something like that -I think he's just trying to be nice to you.
God luck with both your challenges and hope you are successful.0 -
Hi Alison
Why dont you try filling up on vegetables?
There are not too many calories in them & they could help make you feel full.
I personally dont think Slimfast is a long term solution.
Its more about changing our eating habits & yes it can be very hard!
