Forced to stay to complete job

Sounds like a rubbish employer, I would start looking for another job whilst you currently have one, as usually it's easier. Then if you do get a new job, on your last day if I were you I would make a point why I'm leaving to the boss!

But don't feel guilty about leaving work on time, as long as you don't cut off a phone call to go home.

Do as you are compelled to do for now, but frankly, I'd be out of there as fast as I could secure something else, even if I had to microwave burgers in McDonalds for a few weeks in between. Ensure you are paid for this 'compulsory' overtime.
