Mature Student 2nd Degree

Hi all,
Student loans for a 2nd time degree - are they impossible to get absolutely? Are there any tricks?
I read on here that they may be changing the rules and they could get paid in 2016... could this be true?
I am on a Masters of Psychology course 1st year of 5, I'm trying to sort out funding at the moment, however back in 1994 I did a BA (Hons).
I have never ever had any loans of student finance before... any ideas?
Thank you

There are a few NHS funded exceptions, psychology is not one of them. There will be loans next year for those under 30 doing postgrads, on your dates I assume that will not apply to you.
Why are you studying over five years, is it an undergrad Masters?0 -
yes its an MPsych course... very interesting stuff and I hope to become an (old) clinical psychologist... but it's expensive!
I wonder do any members here know if it is possible to negotiate lower fees with your University, beg for leniency so to speak?!0 -

Not a hope! You can ask about funding opportunities, bursaries and scholarships, but they're normally allocated before the course begins.0 -
Oh well thanks tomtontom for your responses, I'll ask anyway but won't expect anything!0

seriously have you investigated the employment possibilities?
usually first class degree followed by PhD0 -
If it's a 5 year M course then it's an undergrad course and next year's possible changes to postgraduate funding won't apply. If you've not had a student loan previously, why aren't you eligible for one now? Saying that, I wouldn't advise it to anyone after the Erudio fiasco.0

Hey Lungboy yes that's my point exactly, I have never had any funding so why not?
I will appeal!
Any posters here either,...successfully negotiated or heard of anyone that has successfully negotiated reduced fees from their Uni?0 -
I doubt it, apparently second degrees aren't as regulated price-wise so in theory they could charge you a crazy amount.0

You cannot get funding if you already have qualifications at that level. The rule still applies even if you did not take funding the first time round. I sympathise, I financed myself through undergrad and postgrad, but there's no point in appealing.0
