Done mine ok I think!! Even though it says you have to download the safety white paper it takes you to a pdf file with their details on etc. and does not actually download anything as far as I am aware.

Just filled out the registration and received a thank you confirmation which said if I am successful they will send the detector to me in the post.

If you do not want them to send you marketing emails, or anything through the post or phone you with marketing deals etc. then this is not for you. I think it is to do with advertising more than anything as there is no mention of how many detectors they plan on giving away. They could collect loads of peoples details but only have 10 detectors to give away. They may in turn get quite a bit of custom out of it all. Who knows.

If they bombard me with emails etc. I shall just block them!!

Anyone else going to have a go?

Thanks for your application. If you're successful, your carbon monoxide alarm will be with you soon.

Now as long as there aren't only half a dozen CO alarms on offer we might get one. Interesting times ahead.

Given the contents of clause 9 of the Terms and Conditions, I'd suggest giving them a throwaway email address and a fake phone number - unless you particuarly like spam emails and nuisance phone calls!

Bear in mind also, that the 'alarm' could well prove to be one of these, costing just £2.79, and that even if it isn't it's probably going to be worth less than a fiver.

Is it really worth handing over your personal details for that?

OK, so they are buying, for the cost of a CO alarm, names and contact info so they can sell you boiler breakdown cover etc? And it looks like they have a network of other companies to whom they will pass on your details. Hmmm.

I thought the same so I gave them a fake mobile phone number and email details of my 2nd email address that I very rarely use so could shut it down anytime. Interesting to see what comes of it!!

It could turn out to be one of the more expensive detectors but I very much doubt it!!

If anyone gets a detector can they let all of us know please.

But you can put 00000000000 in as your phone number and it will take it and junk mail isn't really a problem. And you can usually unsubscribe when you get a junk email.

Here is what MSE say about it:

It should work (though isn't 100% guaranteed), but don't go for one if you urgently need it, as Corgi says it may not arrive until at least February due to high demand, and its supplier could struggle to cope with more traffic from MSE. However we thought it an important offer to share. Read the full Ts&Cs.
