Possible Age Discrimination in ad?

Hello All,
I saw this on a recruitment job ad:
"You will need to be 16-24 years to satisfy apprenticeship criteria"
Isn't this blatantly illegal? I thought the age range was for the grant only and not the job itself?

no grant no job.
"A legitimate aim is the reason behind the discrimination. This reason must not be discriminatory in itself and it must be a genuine or real reason."
"desire to make profit."
without the grant the job is not economic, so its a legitimate aim.0 -
I think it's discrimination. The rules say that financial reasons alone aren't good enough reason to discriminate. Getting a grant is financial as otherwise the company would have to pay more themselves. But having said that, if they didn't discriminate openly they'd only do so covertly so makes little difference in the end.0

Which rules would they be?
By the same rules, I claim my old age pension (30 years early), financial reasons alone are no excuse for restricting them to the over 65s.0 -
If you think it is discrimination you had better take the issue up with the government, specifically the Skills Funding Agency, as they are the ones putting age restrictions on apprenticeships.0
