Why didn't you just buy it from the original retailer instead of going through a long involved process ? What would have been the benefit to you buying from JL that made you go through the whole thing anyway?
As mentioned above JL were offering £100 e-voucher with TV purchase up to yesterday (2nd Nov) which I would have used there in future if they matched their competitor's lower price. But they treated me terribly. Don't go there, and don't trust JL. They have changed!

Not sure when it starts from but it was widely reported in the media a few weeks back that John Lewis is doing away with its 'Never knowingly undersold' price match policy.

I also heard that piece of news- I suspect their sales are way down now and the 'partners' are no longer getting their extra share (or whatever it is).
When I was buying electrical goods last year I looked online but prices from local stores were as good (and free delivery or free removal) Sometimes it 'pays' to use a local small store especially for goodwill and service.

My sibling purchased a big ticket electrical item from John Lewis a while back. He didn’t attempt to price match, partly as he is sight inpaired and partly because he wanted the John Lewis service and guarantee. Item arrived and was installed at the appointed time (none of this waiting in for 8hrs with JL). Several days later he received a partial refund. The item had been price matched without his knowledge, and the difference refunded.
