Anyone ever heard of this please, it appears to be heat activated wether a warm day or wearing cotton socks. It started a few years ago when I moved in with OH, he has this problem. It used to only bother me in winter when I had my cotton socks and wellies on ( I have horses so live in wellies LOL) I tried various over the counter stuff like Eurax ect but to no affect. It is costing me a fortune I have been to my GP twice now but he says it's one of those things and keep trying over the counter stuff. I am getting deperate now as it only used to be the sides of my feet and my ankle bones and only in winter. But it has started up this last week and I am mainly barefoot with sandals on and it has spread up my calves. I am scatching myself to bits and it's keeping me up at night. I know I should not scratch. My skin looks great so any ideas what it could be? if I go back to GP it will be the same speel, I am tempted to wonder if I got this off dear OH but his GP who is differant to mine also does not know the cause. This is not good for moneysaing either as all these product to try are not cheap. Any help much appreciated

Have you tried changing your washing powder and toiletry productw? You could try a cream or lotion with aloe vera in to soothe it. Do antihistamines help? Are you sure it's not something like fleabites?0

Thanks for reply, I am already very careful about washing powders and shower gels/ shampoos ect as I have sensitive skin. It only happens when I am hot I get immediety relief if I can cool these areas down. So it now appears to be hot summer related or winter sock weather. There is no marking on skin so I would doubt it could be a fea bite and it is only in this small area. I do use aloe vera and have tried it there but to no affect. Thanks for ideas thoughFire up the Quattro!0 -
As you developed it when you moved in with OH, think back carefully. Did your OH have this before you lived together? If so, how long for? When did it start?
Also think why you did not develop it before you moved in together. When did it start for you? WHen you immediately moved in, or did it come on gradually?
I
The imporatant bit is to ascertain what triggered it for your OH, and what triggered it for you. Could it be enironmental? JUst ideas here :are you both allergic to wellies, or the socks you use? Are the itchy areas corresponding to any pressure zones, e.g stirrups? Do you and OH operate a tractor/ 4-wheeler that vibrates your feet and legs ( the shock to your nerves might be delayed rather than immediately apparent)? Or did OH go on a tropical holiday and waded in a river he really shouldn't have?0 -

You raise some very good points. For me it started to come on gradualy from when I moved in he says he has had it since he was in his twenties and he is now 45. He is not horsey so does not wear wellies and I can rule out the stirrups as I have been out of the saddle for months due to surgery. We have even moved house and we still have this. He was born in Singapore as his dad was in the forces but he came back to the UK when he was 7 and since then he has not been abroad. Although he says he could have had this as a child and it is def triggered by heat. Just in my case it neve used to bother me in the summer with bare legs untill now. But he can get it in the summer. I do think it is something to do with him it is just getting a doctor to listen. Thank your for your help much appreciated.Fire up the Quattro!0 -
random suggestion - I used to get this a lot and my GP said it was becuase I was dehydrated.
I drink a lot more water now and haven't had it for a year.0 -
I would pester his doctor and yours to get both of you referred to a dermatologist. You have the right to do so. Make it very clear that it is potentially contagious ( that should shake things up a bit). Neither of you should have to put up with this condition, and doctors saying 'it's just one of those things' is pure laziness and an unwillingness to devote surgery time (and money) to 'just' a skin condition.0

Might be worth ditching the wellies and wearing joddie boots and chaps , give your legs a chance to breathe ? You dont need wellies in summer!0

You do in this bit of Scotland. My field is knee deep in places and the horses always lurk on the other side to catch them LOL but then even we are not used to this amount of rain.Fire up the Quattro!0
