Can I use an Apple gift card AFTER purchase?

I upgraded my iPad mini 2 to an iPad mini 4 yesterday and then today received an Apple Store gift card for £50 as a present! Is there any way I can still use it towards my purchase? Perhaps return my iPad and then buy it again? How good are Apple stores for this sort of thing?

You don't have a right to return if it isn't faulty - that will be on the shop's good will.

I don't really know what you mean. I received an Apple gift card which has to be used when buying something in an Apple Store. I don't know what you mean when you say "a gift card comes with a purchase?"

It IS about how good they are because my iPad isn't defective and so they are under no legal obligation to exchange or return anything. Some companies are very good and will change items even if there is nothing wrong with them and that is what I was asking.

I have managed to do an online chat on the Apple website and they said the store will take back my iPad or its case, refund me and then let me buy the item again using my gift voucher. Yay!

You can return anything (bought from) an Apple Store within 14 days of purchase. No reason required.

Having done so there's no reason why you can't thereafter purchase any item. They won't refund the £50 against the existing purchase as they aren't able to.
