Please don't put routers on the floor; they'll work but they won't get enough cool air through the vents (they'll choke through the dust and what not) and is known to affect wireless functionality. Likewise don't put them on the radiator particularly in the winter as they'll get too hot.

you unlock this door with a key of imagination...

    1) If it doesn't move and it should the solution is WD40
    2) If it moves and shouldn't the solution is gaffer tape

This sounds like #2 to me - especially as you seem to scorn aesthetics.

Failing that and scorning warranties open it up and drill the back. If you want to be swish about it drill several holes to form the proper keyhole shape. Gaffer tape may still form part of the solution - over the circuit board opposite the holes to avoid shorts.

    Velcro pads?

I recommend this too, means you can take it down fairly easily if ever you need to troubleshoot or reconfigure it

    i'm buying these to help:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100pcs-D-Rings-Frames-Hanger-Hooks-Picture-Frame-Hanging-Triangle-Screw-Golden-/351391320338?hash=item51d08e0912:g:qWQAAOSweW5VLO36

I have a blind rivert tool, if there is sufficient clearance I'll river these in place, if not I'll have to epoxy it in place.

i got the archer c2 discounted to £35 off amazon (business purchase so the ex vat would be £30ish). So good bargain.

It was an open box/damaged box item.

They should work. So would a bent paper clip at less cost.

The problem with any "adhesive" solution (including my tongue in cheek gaffer tape one) is getting a reliable and lasting bond to the wall surface - both paint and paper can come away under quite moderate loads.

In the past I've drilled a router case to wall mount it.

For you if you don't mind spending a few quid the best solution in this thread is probably the HomePlug access point. Cheaper and still in with a chance is a simple wireless repeater so long as the second floor signal from the ground floor router is reasonable.

    This is the base:

Should be easy enough to drill, or use velcro pads on. No More Nails might be a bit "permanent" though.

Or maybe glue it to a back-board of some sort, then screw the back-board to the wall.

I think I'd undo those two screws, fit a couple of small loops (plastic with a hole in it, or string or something) then screw them back in. Said loops will then mount on hooks on the wall.

Also antenna are detachable on that model, could you just get an extension cable for one of them to help?

Milliput or sugru will both let you form your own attachments on the router to engage with a screw :-)
