With a house like you have, I would suggest some experimentation with HomePlugs. The one on the second floor could conveniently be a Wireless Access Point.
Use the same SSID=network name for both router and WAP, but fix different channels, choosing between 1, 6 and 11.0 -
That's what I was thinking too.enfield_freddy wrote: »ok , drill 2 x holes thru the bottom and fasten via raulplugs to the wall , clip top back on

shelf, table, windowsill, radiator, floor
Please don't put routers on the floor; they'll work but they won't get enough cool air through the vents (they'll choke through the dust and what not) and is known to affect wireless functionality. Likewise don't put them on the radiator particularly in the winter as they'll get too hot.0 -
I have mine resting on a door architrave (the sticky out bit above the door opening...). Screw and wallplug either side and part of a wire coathanger wrapped round the screws and over the router to hold it against the wall (the door surround stops it dropping down). You could always replace the coathanger with something a bit posher...
Another option could be 3M command strips - they do some intended for hanging pictures.0 -
With three stories surely the number of devices regularly used will result in more than occasional reconnections. Will it not be tiresome unattaching it to re-enter passwords and serials? Put up a shelf. Place on shelf. You then have access for when you need to 'try switching it on and off'.0

Not as aesthetically pleasing granted, but won't block the signal and requires no Heath Robinson type escapades with the case.
Get a 42DD bra to hold it and hang that on a picture hook, seems aesthetic to me:p
