Is it worth buying a pre-lit/fibre optic Christmas tree?

It would be nice not to have to unravel all the fairy lights each year, especially as my 6ft tree seems to need at least 500 of them. Also, it would reduce the amount of plug sockets needed.
I've seen some lovely pre-lit trees and fibre optic ones but I'm wondering if they are worth the money. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a small tree but I'm thinking of the 6ft ones and they're very expensive. I'm a bit worried that the lights will quit working after a few years.
Does anyone have one of these? Or, had in the past? I'd appreciate hearing if they have lasted a long time.

I've had a 6ft pre-lit one for 3 years. It's pretty easy to set up (no putting on the branches individually). It's a very nice full tree and has 400 lights, but I put on another 400 and i'd still like more. I don't really care for the fibre optic ones but I think they only have one bulb at the bottom. My Mum had her fibre optic one for a good few years. Not sure if you can change the bulb in them.
This is the one I have. The stand is very solid. I wish i'd went for the 7ft one though. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KV98VI8/ref=s9_hps_bw_g201_i100 -
I bought a pre-lit tree from Argos because I hate putting the lights on. It was in the sale after Christmas at less than half price and it's lasted a few years and will last a few more.
it's black with white lights and I just stick a few coloured baubles on and it looks lovely. But I'm not one for having new baubles every year or an annual 'theme'.0 -
I've had two six foot fibre optic trees in the past, you can hear the motor that turns the light disc in the bay, no problem while tv is on but can get a bit annoying when sitting quietly.
I also found that they had a tendency to lean over slightly no matter how I erected them! in the end hubby put a hook in the celing and we fastened the tree to that with fishing line!
We now have an ordinary pre-lit tree and prefer this.0 -
I've always had good experiences with pre-lit trees. It does save you time during the busiest part of the year not having to pull lights from boxes and untangle those knots. Those knots those knots how I hated them!0
