Hello All, hope we are okay this drizzly afternoon!!
I'm looking for help regarding doing AQA and mystery shopping as a second job. I know you have to do it on a self employed basis, but I haven't a clue how this all works. I need someone to spell it all out if poss!!! I need the extra income, but don't want to get stung by doing the tax wrong. Please help........:o

Hi Gemz
I started doing AQA a few months ago - it was dead easy to register as self-employed, though I'm yet to do a tax return. I rang HMRC & the lady on the phone asked a few questions - 5 mins later it was all sorted.
I've just been putting 25% of my earnings from AQA away each month so that the money's there when it's needed. Apparently the on-line self-assessment form is easy to complete anyway.
Have a look at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/selfemployed/iwtregister-as-self-employed.shtml for more info.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW Nerd #4910 -
Sorry to jump in on thread, but does anyone know how much approx AQA pay? I've just made initial contact with them (as a second job too Gemz) but wondered after the 25% whether it will be worth it?Proud to be dealing with my debt!

It's 30p per question answered, which doesn't sound much but I can usually answer around 20 questions per hour which equates to £6/hr.
I've been making around £40 per month after tax, but then I've hardly been logged on (haven't done any yet this month
). There's people on here who've been making literally hundreds per month, though I don't know how much time it's taking them to earn that much

Oh dear....i've just replied with my application and answers, then I noticed two small errors in my answers, this is dispite doing a spell check. Its the fact that I put 'to' instead of 'too' and I repeated the word 'of' in one of them!
I haven't got a degree so there's probably no way I'll get the job now.

Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me roughly how long it takes for AQA to get back to you after you send your application and test in? I sent mine last night and am biting my nails already!
Gemzy, I'm sure two very small mistakes won't disqualify you automatically. I would think they would be more worried about short answers and consistently bad grammar and spelling. I haven't dared read mine over again. Fingers crossed! When did you send your form in?
Also - do they actually contact your referees? I forgot to ask whether I could put a previous employer down!
best of luck gemzy,

My friend heard he'd got in within 48 hours, I heard I hadn't (earlier this year) within 24 so you should hear shortly.
AQA is a text service where people text in questions and people answer them and reply to them.
They advertise for people normally every week or so at: http://www.aqa.issuebits.com/vacancies.htmInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I'll look our for the email in early next week then (although Monday is a bank holiday of course ..). Fingers crossed we'll all be up and earning soon.
