in Cutting tax
I'm currently in a partnership in a cleaning company.
I have the opportunity of some freelance web development work over the next year. If I take it on then about 90% of my time will be doing the web development and 10% workng in my current cleaning business.
My question is, would I be able to put my income/expenses from the web dev work through my cleaning business? Or because the two types of work are different could I not do that?
If I had to declare the web dev work as seperate self-employed income would I then be liable for high tax on a second income?
I've tried to look this up online and my head's just boggled
If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be really grateful.

Ah ok thanks blondebubbles.
So on my personal tax return I'd just put down income from the partnership & income from the other work seperately?
And the partnership tax return would just be about the partnership business?:beer:two steps forward and one step back is still moving forward:dance::dance::dance:0 -
Thanks so much blondebubbles.
I did ring my accountant, but unfortunately he wasn't in & the receptionist said I'd pay 40% tax on a second income, I think she may be confused!
I won't earn anywhere near £42k so I think I'll be fine:beer:two steps forward and one step back is still moving forward:dance::dance::dance:0 -
I think the key learning from this is not to take financial advice from your accountant's receptionist!0
