Skilsstrain/ Schiedegger/ Multimedia Computer Training

Sorry to post this on here but it does have DFW relevance.really!
Has anyone ever worked for this/ these companies? I have been offered a sales role with them, which holds the promise of good money. To take it up, I would have to leave my job that is with the Council, secure etc, but is incredibly unsocial hours that I am finding harder to manage around DD and sometimes I am so stressed from it that I become ill. I am in a quandary about what to do as with the new job I would have most of the weekend off, if I earn a third of what they say is average it's more than I earn now, I am an experienced sales person with a good track record and feel that the company must be pretty legit as they are paying for me to stay in a 3* hotel to do my training! So why do I feel so nervous??
Any advice anyone??!

Have not worked for them but scheidegger training wasted 6 months of my time several years ago, after several attempts to start an IT course i eventually gave up and demanded (and got) my money back.

Although good luck if you do decide to take it.

You must be careful of these companies they tend to be more value for money and get a lot of bad press!

My hubby worked as a trainer for one company that ended up being closed down offering computer training they are like a modern day double glazing sales sell dreams with a huge price tag.

Make a lot on the finance deals too. Personally I would stick with the council for now but understand your dilemma.

Thanks Kevicho........how was the Salesperson when they came to you? Unscrupulous or ok? I won't work for a company that use dodgy methods! I have seen some good feedback on the net, a few hiccups but no one seems to think that they are too bad!

google scheidegger training for some more opinions

TBH i think IT training is way overpriced in this country (like everything else) and companies like this in my opinion are semi responsible.

How the UK will compete in the future, when no one can afford the training without taking out finance deals is beyond me.

The guy seemed ok, was a pain to cancel, had to quote credit laws and tried several ways to cancel.

This was in 2000 tho so they may have improved since then.

To be honest these companies tell you how much you can earn in computers and its pipe dreams, believe me my husband is third line support to engineers and works with servers so not your everyday knowledge and his wages are pathetic.

Its the programmers at the very top on decent wages and that is the problem people do these courses thinking they can earn so much more and its a very limited few in all honesty they could make more plumbing, buidling etc they just need to get dirty hands!

Im a contractor on reasonable wages, ive done a university HND, A+ and network+ and ECDL, and tbh Uni i thought was a waste of time, not cutting edge enough, and A+ and Network+ i studied myself for it with books, passed both exams withing a month of each other (luckily i was working for a network reseller as their net admin at the time (those were the days lol)).

I did an online course which was garbage as well, i aced all their exams but the knowledge was irrelevant when it came to my real exam.

I think the best training method is teachyourself, however im tempted to give one of these onsite training seminars a go, practical hands on mixed with the theory, in theory it sounds good
