Employed and self-employed tax return

in Cutting tax
Hi - apologies if this is a silly question.
I'm a freelance journalist, and some of the companies I've worked for insist on paying PAYE.
As I fill in my first ever tax return, can I claim travel expenses incurred commuting to work at companies who have paid me PAYE? Or is that only available for places that pay me gross?
Any advice very gratefully received!

Many thanks for the reply.
I did notice on the link though that it says "Any workplace that is a temporary workplace is not a permanent workplace. Travel to a temporary workplace is not ordinary commuting and so the cost is deductible..." - as a freelancer I work in various offices etc, so would this fall under this temporary workplace provision?0
