Bank holidays and annual leave

This shouldn't have happened as these days are public holidays, (unless there is some sort of local agreement to convert p/h's to a/l).
Speak with union rep for clarification.
As long as they're able to use their full entitlement (x days + BH) it's immaterial how it is noted down.0 -
Does Christmas Day land on your normal working day?0

No, I haven't offered to work those days. The service is 24/7 (365 days).
Try offering to work them - that'll avoid having to use the leave. Unless you do actually want the days off, in which case.....All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
In NHS the convention is for a/l to be taken by mutual agreement, not imposition.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

if they are allocating holiday then it should count as one of your work days owards your contracted hours.0

Annual leave allowance in the NHS for those on Agenda for change contracts is inclusive of bank holidays. In years with 8 bank holidays I have a total of 307.5 hours, or 41 7.5 hour days. 33 of them are the annual leave allowance for people who have worked 10+ years in the NHS (people who have worked under 10 years and under 5 years get fewer days, I forget the exact figures), the other 8 are for bank holidays. So you haven't lost any annual leave as your total allowance includes enough hours for the bank holidays.
My department doesn't work bank holidays so they are all booked on the ESR system as "annual leave bank holiday" and the other 33 days I can request whenever I like. My manager can refuse though, and the Trust I work for's leave policy states that my manager can tell me when to take leave in certain circumstances (such as I have lots left to take and it's nearing the end of the leave year).
As others have said if you want the days off they will be taken off your leave allowance. If you want to work and your department works those days you can use the leave at another time.0
