Money Claim Online

Hi All,

I was sold a phone on Gumtree that turned out to be fake!

I picked up the phone from a residential address and she refused to refund never answered the door.

I opened a claim online to which she never replied to.

I now have the option to Issue a Warrant.

Due to the £75 charge, would you advise it is worth me doing this? What do you think the chance of me getting my money back are? Should I just write this off!

Cheers,
Danny

How much did you pay for the phone?

£400 is a lot to lose.

Difficult question, but do you think she could afford to pay back the £400 and associated costs? Does she definitely live at that address?

    Hi,

Yes I am pretty sure it was here house but probably council rented.

She had kids so I am guessing she has income from government even if she doesn't work.

The problem is that if she hasn't got the cash, the bailiffs will have to seize goods, which may be a pointless exercise as by the time you've added costs she'll be owing about £550 - £600. If she owns a car they can seize it, but not if its on finance.

Can you find out if she has any CCJs against her name?

Thanks, can I ask how I check if she has any CCJ's?

Unfortunately I've just found out that there is no free lookup, you have to pay! If you want to do this,

    http://www.trustonline.org.uk/search-others

It costs £4 for each search and there are 4 registers to search.
