My husband is just about to set up and DMP, he has spoken to the CCCS about it but they will not set up the DMP as we have an overdraft on a joint account ?

I think I would be inclined to not mention the bank account, if the ask about it, simply tell them the overdraft has now been repaid.

Hopefully the DMP will then go ahead, and you can pay the overdraft back separately.

You could run your own DMP but the problem is if your husband has a credit card or debt with that company, or you could get your husbands name taken off the joint account then go back to CCCS or look on the national debthelpline website they have payment calculators and template letters and it is how I did my DMP.

Better explain better about current accounts say you had an account with Lloyds and credit cards with Lloyds then it is possible for them to take full credit card payments out of the bank to pay themselves. This is why you need to either take your husbands name off the account (and not to sure if that would stop it to be honest) or include it as a debt.

Is it a huge overdraft or could it be paid off and the account shut down? See first thing I did was stop paying my credit cards and loans sent them a letter saying I was in trouble and got wages paid into another account. That gave me a month of extra money that I would have spent on payments then I offered reduced amounts - can you see that working for you?

Problem is the Overdraft is £3K and we do use some of it, my wages pay it off every month. The debt my husband has is not anything to do with me and the creditors he owes money too are not anything to do with our bank, but I really couldn't survive without my debit card etc on my current bank account, I travel a lot for work etc so need some form of credit. The CCCS will not have anything to do with him unless we include the Bank Account in the DMP, shall we contact Payplan instead. Seems unfair that I haveto be affected. Any new bank account we open up now would just be a standard account becuase of my husbands credit rating, no debit card etc

Why can't you work your own DMP it really is very easy and more flexible a few of us on here to do so we would help with any queries you have.

    Hi

I would suggest that you open a new bank account in your sole name and get your salary paid in every month. You should be able to get one with a card and DD facilities.

Yep I totally agree with Rayday on this one .... get your own DMP sorted and then you don't have to worry about getting 'approved' by the DMP running companies out there and you deal with your own affairs.

If you really didn't want to do this thee only thing I could think of is to change your joint account so its in your name only and therefore does not form part of your partners debt?
