I do shop at Aldi/Lidl but pop to Sainsbury's or Tesco for other bits and pieces and always spend about £30 each time on 'extras'. Especially books and magazines. And M&S is a nightmare - I went in to buy a few things for a picnic and spent £111. Must do better!
I just need will-power and self-control and to basically get-real.
Just a thought... Why not work out how much you're going to need and take cash? It really brings home to you how much you're spending on stuff. Plus you can't overspend because you haven't got it. Little to no willpower or self-control required! NB Experience says leave the cards at home when trying this!! :rotfl:
I've also found that it helps to make a list of what you're going for and only buy something extra if you put back one other item. I've made a grocery checklist of my 'usuals', with blank spaces for other stuff I want, and just highlight the ones I want and add extras in the spaces. It's a bit of a pain to set up, but save loads of time and energy once it's done.A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Every little bit helps and that is the most important thing to learn. Well done!
Maybe you would actually benefit from having your own online diary on here if it helps keep you focused. Just a thought!
That would be a great idea - then I would be spurred on to keep it up - less likely to slip and turn a blind eye to extra spending.:o
Umm, how would I go about that please? (And what is LOL everyone keeps going on about?)0
