23.8.07 what small thing will you do or have you done today?

Good Morning fellow DFW Peeps and welcome old timers and newbies alike :hello:

Welcome to Thursday !!!!!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

So, today I will:
  • do piggy comps, clicks and surveys
  • not take my purse with me when I go out
  • check online banking and update spreadsheet
  • do storecupboard meal
  • do a couple of small matched bets
  • have a job interview
  • be positive
  • not increase my debt by any more than the cost of OH's fillings today
Have a good day, everyone xx

Goodmorning everyone....hope you all have a good day

Well ive had my brekkie...porridge with appple n sultanas mmmmm...
And have sent hubby off to work with his packed lunch -its homemade bread so he is a happy man...and i am a happy woman after seeing someone buy a loaf in the NAFFI the other day 2.99euros-about £2.20  ...for 1 loaf of bread

ive checked the contents of the cupboards/fridge/freezer as we are off shopping tonight - I have decide to join dbelle on her £60 to feed 2 for a month...well 80 euros for me n hubby...and hubby wont even notice :T ...

Im going to have sage and onion pork with cabbage for lunch (saved from last nights dinner)

And i think i will prepare a pizza ready to shove in the oven when we get back from shopping...using all sorts of stuff i have in the fridge - and it will stop hubby from saying he will have a Gyros to save me cooking when we get home;)

Now as you can see i have accumulated 17 2euros..... but i just have to convince myself to put them in their own moneytin:o ... you see its one that i will have to cut open.... so they are sat on the pc desk at the moment and i really dont want to spend them, but putting them in the tin seems so final:o
Im sure i will convince myself soon:D

well everyone, have a good day

Well it is still raining here, but apparently the weather is good in other parts of the UK. We're off at the weekend to go and choose accomodation for OH for the next 2 years  so I updated our spreadsheets last night. We're doing the minimum payments this month so that we can pay for things while we're out in sunny South Africa, I suppose that's all reclaimable? Our debt won't shrink much this month - but September should be better? And we've followed Martins instructions to get the cheapest withdrawals & foreign currency.
    So today:
    - done spreadsheets
    - done my clicks
    - booked a mystery shop for the week I get back!
    - finish - yes really! sorting the boxes from the loft. I now have an entire bedroom full of boxes of e-bayable or bootable stuff.
    - order £100 of rand as soon as I know which airport we're travelling from!
    - still trying to be positive ;)

    Today I will
    - go shopping buying only what is needed
    - get some beer for the Leeds festival, thus saving me £3 a pint on buying it when I am there
    - walk into town tonight instead of £3 for taxi
    - posting a couple of items, one ebay, one is a present for a friend who has just had a baby (I got all the items in the sale and have saved some to send her for christmas!)
    - tidy up (I am sure its MSE coz it keeps me out of the shops)
    - I WILL get some films I have developed seen as I have had them for ages and boots currently have some good photo processing offers on

I will go to the bank and withdraw some cash from my old current account (2% interest) and deposit this into my shiny new Halifax account (6.17% interest) to increase my interest earned this month. It all counts ;)

Hoping to pay off my final debt (loan for windows) in October, by being careful and also with a small annual bounty payment I will get from work - and finally be completely debt-free apart from mortgage :j
