New job = more going out than coming in

Just to clarify, you have buildings insurance only, no contents insurance? With your limited cash reserves, it sounds like you probably can't afford to self-insure.0

When I was in the position of "more money going out than coming in" I just got a second job. I worked some evenings and weekends in a supermarket until I was in a better position financially.
It was hard going, but I did it.0 -
hello again. some sensible stuff on here - but just to echo the other person who said it - i'd stay the heck away from gambling if I were you. it's an easy way to go from 'more money going out than coming in' to 'oh crap i have nothing and owe a lot lot lot' and if you are stressed and struggling, even more reason to stay away from gambling.
hope you find a way through.

Also consider moving in there yourself and renting out the larger room. A few hundred extra a month would really help you out and might be worth being cramped for.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Update
Got the job, started Monday just gone. Finding it very hard to take everything in and settle. Commuting 'in a works van' takes a long time whereas I was only 10 or so minutes up the road I'm now almost an hour.
Anyway, my car has been sold so that's £155 down p/month. What next?0 -
Thanks for the update OP. Glad you are starting to make changes to improve your happiness and finances.
Good luck in the new job0 -
Matched betting isn't gambling, it's using betting company offers to make guaranteed returns. It does however require a decent amount of capital to make it work, you will run out of easy offers fairly quickly, it is time-consuming to make the most of it and you can make mistakes that turn the guaranteed small return into a large loss.ps never in a long time of lurking around the good people of MSE have I heard gambling suggested as a good way to increase your income. Don't go there it's the last thing you need.
The worst problem for the OP is having accounts on a number of betting sites and the temptation that will come to just make a certain bet (i.e. not matched betting). I'd suggest this is especially so for someone who suffers from stress.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
