HSBC process

Hi
Wondering if anyone who has experience with hsbc can help
Buyer is using hsbc and has gone direct to bank, no broker. Mortgage application was with HSBC for 4 weeks.
Last Thursday buyer contacted Estate Agent said morgage had been approved and had instructed solicitors to commence searches and work.
In the 4 week period no surveyor required access to the property.
We have been trying to establish if one is required, and estate agents have been trying to establish whether one is to be booked in but it has been almost a week and we haven't heard anything.
The reason we need to know is because we are buying a new build and due to a previous sale collapsing, we are clinging onto it by a thread. It's been almost 5 months since we reserved  and they are obviously keen on exchange urgently and they keep asking us when the survey will be completed on our property!
Previous survey on property was by countrywide surveyors end of June, we think it was same lender. So not sure if this would have been reissued?
What is the survey process typically with HSBC?

I have recently purchased a house with HSBC as my lender. After the mortgage application was accepted the survey was done about 4 days afterwards.
Is there any chance they did a 'drive by' survey of the house? My valuation survey did have photos of the inside but I have heard this is not 100% necessary now.0 -
Ask your solicitors to confirm the situation with their counter party.0
