Halifax and Sainsbury's - the same difference?

Options
I recently applied for a Halifax credit card - 0% on purchases for 12 months and received a credit limit of £3,200. As I need a credit limit of £4,500, I gave Halifax a call asking if they could increase the limit but they said "no can do" for at least 6 months. So, I decided to get the rest from Sainsbury's online as they also do a 0% on purchases for 12 months at the moment. However, when I clicked on the Summary box, I was taken through to a "Halifax Cards" website, which looked exactly the same as the Summary box I had seen when getting my Halifax card.

So, can I apply for a Sainsbury's card if they are essentially the same company? I assume they will be able to see that I already have a Halifax credit card - will they therefore automatically reject my application? I don't want to have a decline on my credit report.

Sainsbury's Card is issued by HBOS (Halifax and Bank Of Scotland), they may give you a tiny credit limit if they see fit, but they may just reject it.
  • You can apply but as said your unlikely to get a decent credit limit if anything at all
