Trading/Recicling old hoover

I have an old dyson that I was going to trade in to get a new one (so it would reduce the price) however, it seems that dyson is not doing deals right now. I bought this morning a new hoover.

However, I was thinking if there would be any kind of deals to recycle an old hoover, thinking of deals like sending back old printer cartridges and get some cash back or taking a bag of old clothes to some retailers like H&M and getting a £5 voucher back. A friend told me that sometime ago she saw people asking to collect old dyson hoovers in exchange of cash in websites like gumtree (but I don't know how much they give or how genuine that can be) .

Does anyone know of any deals, where I can get some extra cash (to help pay towards my new hoover)?

You can try selling it on eBay for spares/repair. I've sold broken stuff this way in the past. It's a little bit of money and makes some use of it.

However, why not repair the old one? Vacuum cleaners are simple devices with simple faults usually. I've fixed plenty that were 20+ years old and bought them back to good working order without much effort. My own electrolux is about 40 now and I expect to get many more years out of it.
