After coming from a job as a police office - seeing a tragic incident before my eyes and having a break down, leaving the job, getting myself further and further into debt - I ended up declaring myself bankrupt in July 2013.
I had a rubbish year where on occasions whilst having to sign on only for a few weeks - I would have nothing but £10 to see me through the weeks. I lived on bread and water and went from interview to interview where they wanted to do a credit check on me for various jobs from call centres, to electrical stores.
I then managed to get the job of an inshore security guard for a pound shop on minimum wage. Luckily I had a friend who rented properties to students and sorted out a place for me to live on low rent. As you can see my time bankrupt was pretty bleak having my car taken away etc.
Now 27 months on I have a car, a job working in a career I am actually qualified for on the same money as a police officer, and today have just been approved for a low limit credit card to try and repair my credit file. Things are on the up and I just wanted to put this post out there to say that bankruptcy is no easy way out and even now I still can't get any online banking with any bank - things are going in the right direction.
When you're having a rubbish day, make sure you talk to someone and come on this forum - as no matter how rubbish you feel - I can guarantee there are people out there feeling worse.
