oh heck...I've put some washing on and its just started the spin cycle and theres a rather loud tinny sound of something banging against the door....

I just hope its something like a coin rather than a childs phone as has happened in the past.

I refuse to go through my kids pockets and tell them once the washing goes in the washing basket it goes straight in the machine without me rifling through the pockets or emptying them.....I expect them to have removed all incriminating or valuable items first

but this time one of them has definitely not removed all items.

Instead of going, I wrote this reply:rotfl:.

I can't see from that photo - but are these ones really huge? I suspect they are not - I suspect they are just "normal"-size - is there anything magical about the "steadiness" to it - again I suspect not - so why don't people simply buy what (superficially) looks very identical to that at M and buy the potty in M (I bet it's same size!) that is at £1.

Just shows how expensive (allegedly) Mr A is on some items. They win the Grocer year after year, but then again it depends on what items are picked and if, like A, you have more regular eday prices, rather than the 'right up in price in order to put back on half price later' of grocers such as T - then the basket would tend to come out cheaper as opposed to, possibly, containing one of those items that happens to have gone back to full price in T. The item it will be would change from survey to survey as, one time they do it, it will be one item (or more) that happens to be full price and another time it will be another item that's now full price (whilst others have gone down) and rather evens out, but tends perhaps to make it more expensive at T.

A win the surveys, perhaps due to having more consistent eday pricing across a range of items. They are therefore (generally?) perceived as a lower priced place to shop. (Indeed, Sains. focus on A in its BM in order to try to play into that perception - by suggesting they will match A that is seen as a cheaper place (or that your groceries will be, surprisingly to you, cheaper at S - and we'll prove it by handing you a coupon that says "you've saved...":( - despite charging more for a lot of their Basics products so it's likely you'll end up paying them much more, and despite the "you have saved" being likely to have been achieved by tending to configure your basket automatically when looking solely instore to buy cheaper Sains. items).

A are seen are a lower priced place to shop therefore (although Aldi and Lidl are also seen as deep discounters where you can save more than the major supermarkets - despite the vast majority of their range appearing to me to be same price as everywhere else - there are exceptions: Baking Powder and Tartare Sauce in Aldi).

I'm not making my point very well so here goes: A are seen as a low price place. However, there are some very expensive mbuys in A. (They seem to use more mbuys in A - and they tend to be more expensive pricing - for example ice lollies constantly on 2 for £3, which may seem a good 'deal' to most A shoppers. But they are often straight £1 offers everywhere else!)

I managed to womble a 1p:( T Price promise from an A car park the other week - and turned out to have expired anyway:(. But, about those "You have saved..." coupons - I found a BM coupon on the car park of Sains and thought it may be good but then, no, I saw it was one of those "you have saved £x" coupons from "BM" instead! They had saved far too much:(:(:(. Meaning that they had extremely likely not saved at all. I've probably said it before - except for the only exception being if they have bought branded whoopsies, a "you have saved" coupon from Sains., on all other occasions as far as I can see it, automatically means, in theory, that they should have bought all of the branded items in their shop (that compared, in other words in so far as they are available at Mr A) - all of them should have been bought at Mr A and then 10% cheaper than S.

So, every occasion other than whoopsies, a "you have saved" Sains coupon means you have paid with no 10% discount (minus the equivalent amount that the Nectar points would have given you - so possibly it's 9% discount not 10%) and therefore you've not saved at all, instead you've paid too much. It has to be. If the saving is calculated against what you would have paid at Asda, as it is supposed to be, then it implies that those products should have been bought at A and 10% cheaper APG claimed. Obviously, you would replace Sains Basics (non-branded items that you may have bought, that counted to the 10+ but didn't compare) with A SP if you were at A - although then would likely reduce your APG if you bought the 'equivalent' basket like that as S are so expensive on Sains Basics, so you would need some rejigging. But I'm sure it could be done!:D And would need to ensure 8 different items etc.

I'm sure if you bought the A SP separately you would pay a lot less in the end by shopping at A instead of S and buying Sains Basics there, so would save on that count too - and if you bought 8 or more SP in one basket, might even have a 10% voucher available vs T or M as they are largely same price, as well as paying less in A by buying the same branded items on which you'd "saved" in Sains and then doing the 10% APG vs Sains.

So, everytime there is a "you have saved..." coupon, you have done it wrong as the items that gave that should therefore have been bought at A (and 10% cheaper claim) - unless it has been achieved through inclusion of whoopsied branded items - and why would you ever need to buy additional (therefore unnecessary) items to make 10 and pay for those if doing such a shop? - therefore should be entirely whoopsied items only and that should be the only circumstance in which anyone ever gets a "you have saved" if they happen to buy 10 or more different whoopsies - otherwise no point as to why you would ever buy, and pay money for, anything else beyond what was absolutely required to be bought (which is just the cheap whoopsies and nothing else whatsoever) (and certainly should buy nothing that is cheaper at Sains than A apart from the whoopsied items themselves - because the non-whoopsies should be bought at A and then 10% less than Sains.) - all circumstances being equal (i.e. A and S both available to you - ignoring any Nectar offers that really outweigh and why would you ever need to buy as many as 10 different items unless every one of them had such an offer - no point in buying unnecessarily, just buy the smaller number of items you have for the offer and no need to qualify for BM, for a pointless 'saved' coupon, at all!).

Unless there is a category wide offer at S that is excluded from the APG - such as the wines. That's the only other circumstance I can think of, so maybe just that and the whoopsies situation. Otherwise, "you have saved" means you have done it wrong and should have shopped at A and claimed the 10% guarantee. Maybe discuss:rotfl:.

    Bye now:wave:.
