Check your emails for invitations to JL xmas events. You can take a friend but you must reserve your place and show your JL card on the door.

"Many of our stores will be open just for my John Lewis members so you could have the place to yourself.
You and a friend will enjoy a welcome drink on arrival as well as festive entertainment and treats throughout the evening.
We’ll also have plenty of activities in store, including product demonstrations to showcase the best of our ranges and inspire you with ideas to find gifts you love, for those you love."

Never been to one before, that reminds me must check last years Ts link. :o

I've been for the last two years and it's quite fun, you get free entry to a raffle that's drawn during the evening, good prizes. I've never won mind you! You also get a goodie bag. There was savoury food one time and those posh brightly coloured macaroons the next. The Chester store was very busy.
